On Wednesday 11 September the volunteer train Driver on a scheduled service from Walhalla stopped to inspect the train at track level. He sustained serious injuries after slipping down a steep area beside the track. Train services will not return until a number of operating procedures are reviewed and updated to  satisfy Australian Government rail safety directions.
We wish our crew member a speedy recovery and thank all involved in supporting the Railway at this very tough time.
WGR will be implementing recommendations from these reports and are also assessing measures to mitigate this type of incident to ensure we can resume operating as soon as possible.
